What Can I Do To Help My Student?

1) Send them to school EVERY DAY.

2) Log into Parent Square often and communicate with classroom teachers.

3) Keep the teachers in the loop about home life and anything that may impact learning at school.

4) Always contact a teacher first about a problem in the classroom. Allow us a chance to work with you for your student's best educational experience.

English Class FYI's

1) I use ParentSquare to communicate about our class assignments, due dates, behavior, and school events. Please be sure to accept your invite to this great program. It replaces Remind this year.

2) Anything having to do with daily classwork this year will always be posted in Schoology.  Please encourage your student to login into Clever and then Schoology to see missed work, assignment instructions, and due dates.

3) I am encouraging your student to view grades this year in terms of their average on an assignment/ assessment rather than a letter grade (A, B, C, D, F).  Letter grades tell us almost nothing about the student's achievement other than assigning them to a broad category.  Percentages, however, tell us how much of the skills a student has learned on that particular assignment or test and what the student still has to learn.  Whereas a "F" means failure, a 50% could mean the student understood half of a brand new concept, which isn't a failure at all. It just means he or she has 50% more to learn with me helping them. This new way of thinking about grades will lead to a more successful and healthy mindset for our students!
